After just over 2 years Sean returned for another go here On The Ebro this time with Louis with Tom unable to make round 2 due to work commitments. Last time here Sean managed to land the “Resident” at 39lb but no cats!! so target was to get an Ebro cat.
First night we put just two rods out down the garden and fine dined on a BBQ. Just into dark and with the rods out no more than 5 minutes Sean is into a cat. Great fight as always resulting a 83lb moggie so Sean ticked a box in just 5 minutes. Louis managed a carp that night but being the first night and travelling etc.. early night as the “Fig tree” was tomorrows destination.
So Day 2 and we’re set up at the Fig Tree all good 1 in the bag so lets see what happens. Well slow was the answer but as of late mid day proving a good time as is the night. Sean scored first with a carp nice fish mid 20 then it was Louis to get stuck into a cat. 58lb was the result so we’re ticking along nicely. Night came and went with a few carp and small cats but no monsters. Day 3 again nothing really to shout about until late in the day when a carp rod takes off . Lou is in ohh dear the shear force took him by surprize as it took me to get the bait runner off and tell him that yes it really is happening!!!! Back in the land of the living Louis soon playing quite obviously a cat, we passed the rod round the tree and walked some 50 yards down the bank as line was getting a bit short! 15 mins and time to land it not as big as we thought but a clean previously uncaught cat that put up a great scrap 64lb and new PB. Following morning we packed up to have a last night back at the house time has flown by. So last chance for some more fish, tactics pellet rod and boilie rod each. Dark fell and the walkie sounded fish on!! I got down there to a beaming Sean “Ive got It! well I think it is, is it? Yes you’ve got it!!! looking into the net looking back at us was indeed the “Resident” 2 years and a month and not out for over 18 months Sean had caught it again. Down a bit in weight but a stunning looking carp at 38lb 8oz.
That night they both had more fish with Louis getting to grips with a big cat, we sacked the resident and had Louis’s cat roped up so morning was photo time. The lads did mention that the cat looked like the same 83 that Sean had the first night and indeed it had the same deformed feeler and yes it weighed 83lb.
So what a final night “Spooky coincidences” very happy to see the Resident fit and well and the 83 paying a timely return to give Louis a proper scrap on an Ebro cat. Much banter kept the hours passing with some quality fish in between, thanks lads for a great trip sure to be seeing you soon.
Till next time Paul
