Manchester Gang were due in next, Jenny did all the booking all the organising every thing, a few weeks back advised me that she was also pregnant!! but ok to go cat fishing!! On meeting them all at Barcelona Airport indeed yes Jenny is pregnant!! Mario has done a bit of pike fishing, ohh and Matty he rides a moped.
On the drive back we agreed that taking it easy and not going mad would be best. By Afternoon we were tucked under the fig tree with 6 rods out with Mario first on the rods. First rod to go was a carp rod which Mario soon banked a small cat, but we were off the mark.
Next day and Matty’s turn on the rods, bit of a wait but a carp rod eventually roars off, Mario quick as a flash is onto it only to pass the rod to Mat who in turn passed it to me as the rod bent right over with the reel screaming!!! This has to be another cat so we passed the rod round a tree and chased it up stream before we ran out of line!! 50 yards up stream and “Matty the Cat” is getting the hang of it. 10 mins of heave hoo and it was ready to be gloved, Matt had his first cat and a good one at 65lb.
Now it was Jenny next on the rods, to say I was a bit nervous because I knew she was going to play the fish whatever it was on the end!!! We didn’t wait too long as yet again the carp rod was away. Mario quick as a flash was onto it, soon passing the rod to Jen, little bit of coaching and soon a carp surfaced relief for me!! and just what Jenny wanted. Scales showed 21lb 5oz cracking way to get off the mark……. remember she is pregnant!!!!!
Well great all off the mark with some really nice fish so pressure off and back home for some dinner. Next day and Mario quick as a flash is into a fish not a monster but a nice carp and a new PB. Early afternoon Matty who had been keeping us entertained all morning was into a fish, Mario of course had to pass the rod over first but Matty the Cat was into another whopper. Again we passed the rod round the tree as it stripped line off the reel. Bigger fish for sure and 15 mins went before we had it on the bank. 77lb this one well done Catty I mean Matty great fishing.
All going well and still time in the day for Jenny to land another great carp, another 20 at 20lb 13oz and also Mario quick as a flash landing a 17lb carp another PB and Matty another small catty.
The last day was hot and finding someone in MY SWIM…….wasn’t great but we got a mornings fishing in. By midday Jenny who had done so very very well was feeling the heat, so was I, but it was coming from Mario’s and Mattys arms and legs!!!! But no blank days so far and no lost fish either surely we could nick one. I arrived back with lunch and a carp rod is away, Me quick as a Mario picks the rod up, it was the rod I cast a long way down a reed bank and the fish quickly weeded us up. Jenny played the weed for a bit before I took over, slowly we gained some line and a couple of hundred kilos of weed!! but soon I passed the rod over for Jenny to land the best carp of the trip at just under 25lb.
Well that was the end, Jenny with 3 Ebro 20’s, Matty with 2 cracking cats, Mario worn out chasing after the rods all week but did get his catfish and 2 new PB carp. BBQ, night out, night in chilling we did it all, lovely week with lovely people and to top it off we had Matty keeping us all entertained with pound shop glasses, horses being in danger of being eaten, and the classic where can I hang my wet towel after ducking under the washing line all week !!!
Until next time Paul
