September and October have proved to be 2 months of “exceptional” fishing (there is a joke here!) James is back with the aide of James the “Skinner” and Add, James having caught some big cats before where Skinner a novice and Add more a carp man.
So what would this week bring Skinner on the rods first we were in the same swim that has proved its self since Sept so 15 minutes went by and rod 1 is away!!! Fish on and novice Skinner is wondering what the hell this is all about!! Good scrap resulting in a 66lb cat and new PB by some 50lb for the Skinner. Adds turn next and with only an hour passed he is in, another good scrap another good fish in the 60’s.
A few smaller fish came to the rods and I went off to collect the rest of the camp leaving James in charge of the rods. I get a text message saying Mobi 1 has landed, Ohh could James Buffoni be knocked off the top so soon!!!! Well I rushed back because they just roped her up and it,s weight was unknown. Texts from JB went un answered to keep the pressure on was his 135 about the be beaten, YES James had done it again the scales showed 138lb cracking fish.
What a great start to their trip, JB taking the news well (ish!) was there time for some more big fish action, well Add was next in and he didn’t disappoint fantastic fight resulting in a 104 another “Ton” and Add thinking I’m some sort of Super Hero (how did he know!)
Whilst taking the photo’s Add played who can open their mouth the widest with the 104lb cat and congratulations Add you won!!!!
The night passed with a couple of smaller cats and a couple of carp to 24lb, morning came rods back out and it was Jame’s turn on the carp rods. Rod away and not for the first time this year A big cat had picked up the boilie hook bait. What a fight full 20 minutes and James was 100 yards down the bank! where we landed an immaculate cat weighing in at 93lb great fishing.
Well now with everyone with aching bones the cats thankfully gave the boys a rest all afternoon, evening came with a stunning sunset flat calm very fishy looking conditions all we needed was the rods to go! Bang on que rRod 2 is away and another big fish was on, strong fight resulting in a 98lb for James (yes it was his turn on the rods again!!!) We roped it up as it was getting dark all rods re-cast and it was the Skinner’s turn next.
Rod 3 away and The Skinner was onto it only the fish was pulling so hard he had trouble getting the rod out of the rest!! The line poured out of the spool Skins is in trouble as this fish was on a mission! time after time Skins got line back on the reel only for it to be taken again but eventually he got him in and another Ton 125lb. We also roped her up for some pics in the morning. The night passed badly as the current picked up bring rafts of weed down the river, real pain as the conditions were good and lots of fish showing but just couldn’t keep a rod in the water.
Morning came time to weigh the fish with the 125 first,
Lots of pics taken time for the 98, umm where is it!!! well it seems that it has bitten through the rope and got away without it’s picture taken, a distraught James as he only had lots of other pics but a bit of a sulk a few more games of Candy Crush !! and he was soon over it.
Well that was it for the cat fishing over 800lbs of cats in 48 hrs the lads had a well earned night off and we were off to Riba Roja after some carp.
First night carping was hard we had 14 runs but banked only 4 fish, hook pulls and being cut off was a problem.
Night 2 and much the same only James and Skinner saving the night with carp of 22lb and 28lb.
Add and Skinner done their last night down the village James having lost a couple of biggies wanted revenge so we stayed on for the last night.
6 fish landed to 19lb not the wackers we were after but good sport and there is always next time for a monster carp.
Well done James Add and the Skinner great fishing with you all going home with a fish over the magic “Ton” and James taking the lead in this years Comp.
Keep you posted!!
