They’re back!! 6 years on the trot and for those who have been before will have seen these faces before on the photo boards as they have a knack of doing very well.
I’m sure they won’t mine me saying but they aren’t the best fishermen in the world but what they lack in fishing skills they certainly make up for in enthusiasm so as always I was looking forward to the week ahead.
Day 1 ended well with Chris landing a 68lb cat and Jonathan promising he would tell us some of his stories from his first year at Uni !!!
Day 2 and Jonathan lands a 65lb cat and their trip was starting well.
Day 3 and confidence was high, yet the alarms stayed silent was there a change in the weather coming??? Day 4 and confidence was high both Chris and Jonathan had a go at casting!! not bad seeing it was their 6th time here, but better late than never (or was it!!), still the alarms stayed silent. Oh dear was this going to be one of those weeks!
Day 5 and confidence was high!!! and we were going to fish the night! get pi*$%d (drunk) on beer and vodka and Jonathan was going to tell us his Uni stories!! The day passed with no action until Jonathan’s carp rod ripped off at speed forcing him to put the vodka bottle down! fish on at last and a powerful fish took off 3 minutes passed when the hook pulled and Jonathan went back to the vodka! Dark fell beer cans piling up Chris wobbling and telling us some cracking stories (good old vodka)!! when Chris’s carp rod went off, quick as a wobbly flash he was on to it. Strong fish pulled away and it pulled and it pulled and it pulled……………. not a lot you can do when quite obviously a cat had picked up the boilie but it stripped so much line off the reel and we hadn’t seen a fish in 3 days now I had wobbly legs!
No worries that very person who I said wasn’t a fisherman played the fish for a full 20 mins like a pro, as we saw it for the first time Jonathans legs went all wobbly but we soon had her on the bank all 117lb of her and a half manderin as well.
Fantastic effort and new PB and again a pic for the photo boards. The night went well with 3 carp too 26lb landed and many stories from all of us told.
Day broke with me picking up all of Chris and Jonathans empty vodka bottles!! we quickly packed away as the heavens were about to open which they did very heavy rain which is what it needed to clear the air.
That night we changed location, lots of fish showing and conditions perfect, a couple of good carp and small cats landed when Chris is into a good fish, another PB and what a cracking carp 35lb 2oz.
The last day saw Jonathan catching more quality carp and cats Chris had a 60lb cat great end to a fantastic week.
Until next year thanks guys for a fab week.
